Ireland

A typical scene around Western Ireland. We were in the middle of mostly cow pastures and forests. Tiny towns scattered along tiny roads, the remains of estates and farms and new houses being built everywhere.

Lough Derg

We caught the end of a music festival and saw the Tulla band play in front of town hall in Tulla, the nearest town 6 km to our east.

(play the above 2 videos at the same time)!

The roads were tiny- and there were swarms of gnats making crazy patterns in the air and a hovering fuzz around all vegetation, which Mau said was like the Poconos. It stayed light out until 11:30 PM!

In Quinn we had a surprise of more traditional music.

A highlight of our trip- the Spancil Hill horse fair

We made it to the ocean- an amazing color, very very windy. Stopped in Miltown Malbay where the whole town was in one pub watching a football game.

We stayed in a charming cottage renovated from the farm workers quarters of an old estate.
