Copper

A slender, elegant copper specimen crystallized from top to bottom, combining the "herringbone" style crystallization with spinel twins!

A delicate "leaf" of copper, with penny-bright luster on both sides and beautiful, ornate form.

Ireland
A typical scene around Western Ireland. We were in the middle of mostly cow pastures and forests. Tiny towns scattered along tiny roads, the remains of estates and farms and new houses being built everywhere.

Lough Derg

We caught the end of a music festival and saw the Tulla band play in front of town hall in Tulla, the nearest town 6 km to our east.
(play the above 2 videos at the same time)!
The roads were tiny- and there were swarms of gnats making crazy patterns in the air and a hovering fuzz around all vegetation, which Mau said was like the Poconos. It stayed light out until 11:30 PM!

In Quinn we had a surprise of more traditional music.

Leslie Shows

In the artist’s words, her latest work “comes out of a constellation of ideas around landscape painting, self-organizing matter, and the view of ‘things’ as aggregates. While these are for the most part landscapes, I am interested in the matter that constitutes the ground, and how it relates to human bodies and culture. I want to show matter as the principle actor, whether it’s as gold coursing through economies or teeth, or charcoal and pigment depicting dirt and mud.”

Austin art report

"Twenty To Watch" show at AMOA
I really Liked Stephanie Wagner's rococo dogs. AMOA has a video of a studio visit with Stephanie.
Mexic Arte Museum is chock full of cool stuff.
Recently saw
"la Caja"- (the box)
It's a portable miniature museum with miniature art...

And today I saw a huge exhibit of ex- votos.

(Teresa Gomez Martorell)
They also have a room full of local artist's miniatures that are part of the "Taste of Mexico" auction coming up to benefit the museum.
AND a few months ago it was "From Revolution to Renaissance" Latin American art from 1890's to 1950's, the lifespan of Diego Rivera.
